Why do we exist?

The Placerita Biblical Counseling Center (PBCC) exists to glorify God by helping individuals and families understand their need for Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and to teach them from the Bible how to live in a way that pleases God (2 Corinthians 5:9). In doing this, we are committed to the position that the Bible provides the only authoritative guide for what we are to believe and how we are to live (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

We do not base our counsel on man’s wisdom, opinions, experience, or concepts of behavior (Isaiah 55:8-11). Instead we seek, with care and compassion, to bring Biblical truth, which focuses on the counselee’s heart needs (Hebrews 4:12). It is then and only then that lives and relationships are transformed and people have hope (Romans 15:4).

There are times in life when we all need a helping hand.  We see people with all kinds of problems, but the most common would be those struggling in their marriage, parents needing help with their children, those dealing with sexual sin, and those struggling with their emotions (e.g. depression, anger, or fear and anxiety).  Whatever your situation, now might be the time when you need someone to come alongside you with encouragement and help from the Bible.

While there may be many helpful resources in today's society, we believe the Bible is the source of truth for living.  God has created us, knows what is best for us, and has communicated with us through His Word, the Bible.

"His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness,

through the knowledge of him who called us to His own glory and excellence." 2 Peter 1:3

All these reasons are why we offer biblical (or discipleship) counseling at PBC.  It is counseling that is really just extensive discipleship concerning a particular trial or sin struggle a person is having.  We purpose to assist one another so we can be the disciples of Christ we are meant to be, for God's glory and our joy.

Our staff will care for you and treat you with respect. Your counselor will carefully listen to your situation and struggles in order to offer appropriate, practical help. It is our desire to patiently walk with you in the application of God's truth to your heart and what you are facing.

We respect your privacy.  Everything will be held in the strictest confidence, except where there is a clear biblical or legal requirement for us to help you involve another (e.g. criminal activity).

Encouragement Toward Christ-likeness

Our staff will guide and support you through the entire process as we lovingly exhort you to think and walk in a way that pleases Christ.

Qualified Counselors

All of our counselors go through a rigorous training program in biblical counseling.

Give God Time To Work

Because God's answers usually involve a process of application, we ask you to commit to regular counseling for approximately 8-10 weeks.

The more we know, the more we can help.  Our mutual commitment to honesty and openness will please Christ and lead to lasting change.

Attend One PBC Sunday Worship Service Weekly

Because this will benefit you and complement what you are getting in counseling, our elders request that you make this a priority.

Do Weekly Homework

These assignments will help foster lasting hope and change.  Please be faithful in completing them.

What to Bring with You Every Session

Bring a willing heart, a Bible, a pen, and a notebook.

Center Hours

Counseling sessions typically last one hour in length and are held once per week.  The day and time will vary depending on the counselor.

Since Placerita Church provides the facilities and the counselors volunteer their time, we offer the counseling free of charge.  However, we require a $25 deposit which is forfeited for last minute cancellations.  If a counselee leaves counseling or graduates from counseling without a cancellation, the deposit will be returned.

We are a Counseling Training Center

We desire to train individuals to counsel through teaching, individual study, and observation of actual counseling cases.  In almost all of our counseling sessions, you will be meeting with a counselor and an observer who is learning and growing in the understanding of counseling principles and methodology.

Get to Know Us First

We offer a pre-counseling meeting option if you would like to talk with one of our counselors about the Biblical Counseling process.  This is not a counseling session, but it is a short, informal opportunity to find out more about us and how God's Word can help you.  Please call us to schedule a meeting.

How to Start the Counseling Process

If you are ready to begin counseling, please click on "Start PDI Counseling Form" below.  You will be contacted within 48 hours after we have received your completed form.  Each individual attending counseling will need to fill out their own separate form, including married couples.

Our PDI (Personal Data Information) is designed to give your counselor as much basic information up front as is possible.  It will take approximately 20-45 minutes to complete.  Please complete the entire form and be sure to digitally sign the counseling agreement at the end.  The information you give on the PDI will help streamline your first appointment and give you and your counselor a good starting point.
