  • Mark Smith

    Mark is originally from Washington, D.C., and moved to Arizona in 1988 where the LORD saved him in his freshman year at Arizona State University. He’s lived in Los Angeles since 1998. He met his wife, Janet after moving west, they were married in 2001, and they’ve been blessed with two children, Joshua and Grace. He spent his early career in operations management and human resources for manufacturing and distribution companies. He transitioned to non-profit management for parachurch ministries in 2008. Prior to joining PBC in 2019, he served with Joni and Friends in international operations and as a lay leader at Grace Community Church in the biblical counseling ministry under Pastor Bill Shannon. Mark has been involved with the Master’s University since 2005 as a student, and since 2015 as Adjunct Faculty teaching biblical counseling. Mark received his MABC degree from TMU and his ACBC Certification in 2016. 

  • ADAM TYSON

    Pastor Adam was born and raised in a Christian home in Georgia. After attending medical school he became a physician’s assistant and worked in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery in Savannah for four years. While serving in his local church he felt an overwhelming desire to pursue the glory of God through theological training and the opportunity to serve the Lord in full time ministry. Adam had the privilege of attending The Master’s Seminary for both a M.Div. (2005) and a D.Min. (2013). Adam served as an associate pastor of student ministries and outreach at Lakeside Bible Church in Montgomery, Texas for seven and a half years. Adam has a passion for expository preaching, biblical counseling, world-wide missions, and for reaching the community of Santa Clarita with the Gospel! Adam has been married to his lovely wife, Lisa, since 2004 and they have been blessed with five children: Anna, Nate, Micaiah, Hudson, and Zoe.

  • carolyn mCguire

    Carolyn grew up in the Midwest as the daughter of an evangelical pastor. As a teen she developed a strong desire to learn how God’s Word could help people with their life problems. After High School she attended Moody Bible Institute where she met her husband, Joe. They were married in 1966, and they have four grown children who have given them 12 precious grandchildren. When her youngest daughter went to college, Carolyn also attended the Master’s College where she earned her Master’s degree in Biblical Counseling. In 2005, she received her certification as a biblical Counselor with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors. Carolyn has been faithfully serving the Lord through counseling women at both Placerita Bible Church and Grace Community Church for the past twenty-four years. God has given her a heart of compassion for women who are hurting and she loves nothing more than to be able to point them to God’s answers in His Word.

  • Stuart Scott

    Stuart is a professor of Biblical Counseling at The Master's University, in Santa Clarita, CA; Director of Membership Services for the Association of Biblical Counselors (ACBC) and Associate Professor of Biblical Counseling at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. His primary responsibility is teaching in the graduate program of the biblical counseling at The Master's University. Scott has over thirty-five years of experience in counseling and pastoral ministry. He is also busy as a Fellow with the ACBC. Stuart is an excellent author and some of his well-known writings include, "The Exemplary Husband" and pamphlets titled, "From Pride to Humility" and "Anger, Anxiety and Fear." He is married to his wife Zondra and they have two grown children and two grandchildren.

  • Zondra scott

    Zondra Scott holds a Bible degree from Columbia Bible College.  She has taught in Christian and public schools as well as college level.  She has also been a respiratory therapist.  Zondra is the mother of two grown children, Christa and Marc, and grandmother to River and Ivy.  She served alongside her husband as he pastored for more than 18 years.  During that time, Zondra had many opportunities to counsel and disciple women one-on-one, teach, speak to women's groups, and minister in music.  She now spends most of her ministry time serving PBC and assisting her husband, Stuart, who is in ministry at The Master's University, and is also the Membership Director for ACBC.  As an ACBC Certified Biblical Counselor, Zondra has a particular passion to help herself and other women think more biblically, deal with with the past God's way, and abide in Christ for great faith, joy, and service, all for the glory of God.

    Ed was born and raised in Hong Kong and came to the United States in 1978. God called him into the field of medicine to help those who suffer physical sickness. Ed has been practicing medicine since 1993. In the same way, God has called him to become a Biblical counselor to help those who are spiritually weak. Similarly, to medicine, the Bible is the cure for any spiritual weakness and it strengthens the weary. Ed is also certified as a biblical counselor by the Association of Biblical Counselors.
